Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

Custom orders are carefully considered. What I can do is make you something that I already make, but in another glaze color besides the one available. Glazes are chemical mixtures. I carefully test each new glaze or glaze combo before producing several. Each glaze is a bit different, and each glaze firing is unique. Pieces are similar, but never identical due to their handmade nature. Turn around time on special orders can be anywhere from 1-3 months, depending on my show schedule and other orders.

Care instructions

I use two different clay bodies in my pottery. The first is Klamath Red from Seattle. It fires to a beautiful maroon red. Glazes applied over it are somewhat darker than when on a lighter clay body. The larger pieces in the red clay should not be put in the MW due to its high iron content, which heats quickly and may break. Speckled buff is my other clay body, which looks just like it sounds. It's an earthy, organic buff color with speckles that show through the clay body. These can be put in the MW. And if you want to use either in the oven, warm it up as you warm up the oven.

Gift wrapping and packaging

We carefully wrap each piece in bubble wrap and place in foam pellets. Each piece is carefully wrapped so that it gets to you in one piece. Because of the extra care required in packing your order, we do not discount shipping and handling. We ship USPS priority with insurance. If you should ever receive something that is broken, please take a digital photo so I can use it for insurance. Your item will either be replaced or refunded in the case of breakage.

Custom and personalized orders

Custom and personalized orders require total payment before I begin your order.
